About the Author

Gaynell Buffinet grew up in a small Louisiana town at the tip of the Mississippi River. She has fond childhood memories of trawling for shrimp and fishing with her dad in the swamps, always with an eye out for her former pet, Walligator. She now resides in Nashville, TN with her son. While she enjoys the ‘down home’ southern culture of the Southeast, it’s her Cajun heritage that still inspires her stories.

Q. When did you decide to become a writer?
A. I didn't really choose to be a writer-I have always been one. My childhood was filled with stories and daydreams. I built them up and worked on them in my head, meanwhile tripping over things and bumping into walls because I was in the story. It became necessary to start getting them out on paper.

Q. What is the inspiration for Night of the Fallen?
A. Louisiana is rich with story. It seems to grow wild on the bayou. Tales of the rougarou, voodoo, ghosts, and the things people might get away with in the swamps. I wanted to give a glimpse of the real diversity and character of Cajun culture, as well as the mystery.
